Rare Collinson & Lock 19th Century Humidor / Chest on Stand Satinwood English
A rare and well proportioned humidor made of satinwood with mahogany banding. Attributed to Collinson & Lock, as the locks are marked Cope & Collinson. Interior is cedar lined with an inset copper/zinc lining. Two pieces, top section with chest and single divided drawer, lower section with single drawer on tapering legs and brass casters.
Ideal piece for a study or office. Fits well against a small wall. Great conversation piece.
Coming from a local estate, where it descended in a New York state family who owned a very large mansion.
Condition: Lower portion shows evidence of some repairs, due to the delicate nature of the legs. Some veneer loss along front surface. Normal wear from use. Clean on interior.
