A Milo Baughman / Thayer Coggin Lounge Chair / Recliner Danish Modern Oak Rare
Rare early recliner designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin. Completely original coming from an estate where it has been since purchased new. Very comfortable and well made. Original label to underside of foot rest.
I am not sure of the wood, but it has a gold oak coloring. The upholstery is a naugahyde. All original.
Chair is clean and in good working order, although there is typical wear from use.
When you sit and push back, the foot rest pops out. You can lean back to two reclining positions. Very comfortable.
Condition: There are two tears to the upholstery at the back corners of the seat at the fold. These areas are not easily noticable. The frame is solid, but there is a slight looseness if you move the arms. There is a slight tilt to the foot rest when you have it extended, however this does not effect the feeling of the chair when reclined; it feels level. Frame has been thoroughly cleaned and oiled so it functions well and does not require further restoration unless you want the upholstery issue corrected. There is one strong scratch to the wood on the lower rail on the right side.
Rare to find an all original example in this condition.
Measurements:
43" H x 28 3/4" W x 32" D x 15 1/2" Seat height
