A Pair of American Fancy Chairs, Painted Eagle, Klismos, 19th Century
Pair of period 19th century fancy chairs directly from the Pitney Plantation of Mendham, NJ. These had been in the house at least since the 1920’s as they were seen in old documentary photos. Klismos form with hand painted eagle and Greek decorations. Rare to find the caning still in tact.
Condition: Normal amounts of wear to the chairs, some paint loss. Caning is sturdy, but should be handled with care. Structurally sound, but should be treated as an antique.
