A Louis XVI Gilt Carved Fauteuil / Armchair, 19th Century
A Louis XVI Gilt Carved Fauteuil Armchair 19th Century
Beautiful lines to this 19th century french armchair. Coming directly from a Mendham, NJ mansion that belonged to a wealthy old NJ family. This is a period chair and should be professionally restored.
Condition: In the current state, it has a gesso finish throughout with gilt decoration, most of which has chipped off over the years. The back crest shows signs of repairs, as well as the front legs. You can sit in the chair, but it does have loose joints that should be tended to. In order to be reupholstered, the joints could be re-glued. Once restored, this will be an exceptional chair. Stains to the silk upholstery.
Measurements: 38″H x 25-1/2″W x 21″D
