1870 Renaissance Revival Carved Walnut Tall Dresser Chest Victorian Barley Twist

$1,999.00
sold out

Stunning 6ft H chest of drawers signed "Joseph Van Damme 1870," possibly Belgian.  Fine quality carved walnut with tigered oak secondary.  An outstanding example of Victorian era Renaissance Revival furniture.  Photos do not do it justice.

Coming from the attic of a local mansion that had many pieces from an enormous Tuxedo Park, NY estate.  The line of descent for this piece means that it belonged to one of the wealthiest families in the United States at the turn of the 20th century.  Very interesting history.  Email me for more information.

Condition:  Normal wear fron use.  Some of the knobs are chipped, but all are present.  One piece of molding missing from the side of the lower drawer.  Some loose pieces of molding along the top cornice.  All drawers open and close smoothly.  The piece has been in an attic stored for many many years.  No key, but all locks appear to be in good condition.

Signed under the top surface, seen when top drawers are removed.

Measurements:
70 1/4" H x 40" W x 17 1/2" D
