Henri Godet (French, 1863-1937) Bronze / Enamel Sculpture Art Nouveau, Bust RARE
Rare early 20th century Art Nouveau bronze of a woman emerging from a thistle type flower. A rare example from Henri Godet's "Femme-fleur" series. Vibrant blue enamel and rich patina to the bronze. Fresh to the market, coming from a wealthy local estate. Signed on base "H. Godet" over foundary mark "Med d'or."
Godet was a French 19th/20th century sculptor known for his Art Nouveau sculpture. He did a series of bronze busts of Art Nouveau women emerging from pedalled flowers. This particular example is rare, as I was unable to find another example like it sold in recent years.
Condition: Overall good. Enamel chip to the light colored blue seed pod at base. (please view photos in description) Minor chip to blue flower tip just below her chin. Missing a thin brass underplate that originally screwed into the marble base. Some scuffs to the marble base, consistent with age.
Measurements:
8 1/2" H x 5" W
